Additional information for UK customers
This section explains how UK data protection rights apply to this shop. It supplements the privacy policy above and takes priority if the general wording is less specific about our UK practices.
Who is responsible for your information
The controller for this shop is Ross Crabtree, a sole trader trading as Horizon Geopolitics. Contact info@horizongeopolitics.com or telephone +44 20 3864 1042. Our correspondence address is Ross Crabtree trading as Horizon Geopolitics, Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset BH16 6FA, United Kingdom.
Why we use information and our legal bases
- Orders and customer service: we use contact, delivery, order and transaction details to take steps you request before a purchase and perform our contract with you, including payment, digital delivery, printing, shipping and returns. We also use these details to meet legal duties concerning consumer rights. Without the details needed for an order, we may be unable to supply it.
- Accounts, tax and legal duties: we keep necessary transaction records and respond to legally valid requests to comply with our legal obligations.
- Security, fraud prevention and disputes: we use relevant account, device, transaction and correspondence information where necessary for our legitimate interests in protecting customers and the business, securing the shop and establishing or defending legal claims. We consider those interests against your rights.
- General enquiries: where an enquiry is not about a contract or legal duty, we rely on our legitimate interest in answering it and providing useful customer support.
- UK marketing emails: we rely on your consent. Buying a poster does not by itself subscribe you to marketing. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or contact us. Order and service messages may still be necessary.
- Optional analytics, personalisation and advertising: where consent is required, we rely on the choices you make through the shop's privacy controls. You can refuse or withdraw optional consent. Strictly necessary technologies support functions such as checkout and security; refusal of optional tracking does not prevent you from buying.
Service providers and Shopify
We use Shopify for the shop and checkout, Printful for physical production and fulfilment, and delivery, payment, email and other service providers for the functions described in this policy. Relevant information is shared for those functions. Shopify also processes some information for its own purposes, including Shop, Shop Pay and enhanced services provided through Shopify Network Intelligence. Shopify explains those purposes, its legal bases and your choices in its Consumer Privacy Policy and privacy portal.
Information processed outside the UK
Our providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where UK transfer restrictions apply, the safeguards described in the International Transfers section above apply. These can include UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as appropriate to the transfer. You can ask us for details or a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing the address above; confidential information may be redacted. Shopify publishes its applicable terms in its Data Processing Addendum.
How we decide how long to keep information
Retention depends on the type of information and its purpose. Order, payment and tax records are kept for the applicable statutory record-keeping period and while needed for outstanding refunds, disputes or legal claims. Customer-service correspondence is kept while needed to answer the enquiry and deal with related issues. Account information is kept while needed to provide the account and meet continuing legal obligations. Consent records are kept while we rely on the choice and as needed to demonstrate compliance; a minimal suppression record may be retained to honour an unsubscribe request. Device and usage information is retained according to the relevant service's purpose and settings. Contact us for the criteria applying to a particular record. A deletion request does not override a legal requirement to keep a record.
Your rights and complaints
You can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, or receive a portable copy where the right applies. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Contact us using the details above. We normally respond to rights requests within one month; we will explain if the law allows an extension or requires further information.
To raise a data protection complaint, email or write to us with the concern and enough information to investigate. We will acknowledge it within 30 days, investigate appropriately, keep you informed and explain the outcome. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to give up that right to use our complaints process.
Digital purchases through Gumroad
If you follow a digital-poster purchase link, Gumroad operates the separate checkout and delivers your download under its privacy policy. We receive the customer and order information Gumroad makes available to us to supply the poster, respond to requests and arrange refunds, using the purposes and legal bases explained above. Following the link or buying a poster does not subscribe you to our marketing.
